Birth Justice Bar is not a typical bar association. For instance, our membership is not limited to attorneys. We welcome diverse voices and perspectives within the Birth Justice movement by offering several categories of membership:

Affiliates. Individuals in the Birth Justice movement who are neither practicing attorneys nor law students (e.g., birth workers and health care providers, activists and policymakers, scholars and academics).
Practicing Attorneys. Licensed legal professionals actively engaged in the practice of law.
Law Students. Individuals currently enrolled in a law school or legal studies program.
Sustaining Supporters. Individuals from the public who want to provide ongoing support for the work of Birth Justice Bar.

Each of these membership categories plays a unique role in advancing Birth Justice, although attorneys remain a core part of our community. If you are joining us a non-attorney member, we encourage you to make our work known to any legal professionals who might share our passion about these issues. Birth Justice Bar aims to feature one or more attorneys from every jurisdiction in our online directory, in order to create a robust referral resource for individuals experiencing rights violations during birth and for midwives navigating the complexities of the legal system.

Affiliate Member - $25.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year Automatic renewal (recurring payments) An Affiliate Member is not an attorney and not a law student.

Professional Member - $50.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year Automatic renewal (recurring payments) This is the standard membership for practicing attorneys. Attorneys in solo practice, in practice at a non-profit, or who work as activists qualify for a lower-cost Solo/Non-Profit/Activist membership.

Solo/Non-Profit/Activist Member - $35.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year Automatic renewal (recurring payments) Attorneys in solo practice, in practice at a non-profit, or who work as activists qualify for this lower-cost Solo/Non-Profit/Activist membership.
Other attorneys should become Professional Members.

Student Member - $25.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year Automatic renewal (recurring payments) This membership type is for law students.

Sustaining Member - $75.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year Automatic renewal (recurring payments) This membership level is open to all who wish to provide BRBA with extra resources to continue our work!
